Texting Tips

In our day and age it is very common to see multiple people in the mall or at work (hopefully only on break :D) with a cell phone in their hand. Now some people (mostly old) look at this with scorn and annoyance but I think most people have become used to it.

Why do people hate texting so much? Are texters becoming the new "black"? Are people becoming racist toward texters?

I know, I know, there are times when texting is not appropriate like at the dinner table or in the middle of an important conversation. Or while driving. DRIVING. But come on people. Texting exists and if you're paying for it then you better use it.

So while alot of old people who are afraid of change and electronics in general are the ones who mostly don't approve of texting, there are many people who just don't like it. I like it alot because it's quicker than calling someone up and then feeling like you have to chat for a few minutes so as not to come across rude. You can simply text them and ask your question and even if they send their reply with another sentence about how they have a huge problem in their life and they need to talk to someone about it you can always pretend you didn't get it or something. Just don't reply and you're off the hook. For those of you who are slow, that was called sarcasm. But seriously it's very quick and useful.

People need to be more patient toward texting but on the other hand, we texters need to be careful when we text and try not to be rude or unsafe about it. Ladies, if a guy reaches in his pocket and gets to one knee it's probably not the best time to whip out your phone and start composing a text.

Just know when it's appropriate and when it isn't. It's not that hard. And don't become addicted to it either.
Texters will always be texters and old people will always be old. But can't we all just get along?

While writing this post it reminded me of a little secret I found out that I'm going to share with you. If you do not have texting but you have one of those annoying friends who always seems to think you do no matter how big the sign is on your forehead that reads 'don't text me you freaking idiot. I don't want to pay a quarter each time you forget.' Well here is a tip for you; you only pay for a text if the little envelope symbol next to the text is open. If it is still closed then you haven't opened it yet and you will not be charged for it. Now the secret the cell phone companies don't want you to know is that you can actually highlight the text (do not open it) and then hit options. In the menu you then hit forward and it will open a new text message with the entire unopened text you got from that annoying friend in it. You can read their entire text without actually opening it and being charged for it. Just a helpful hint. You thought you couldn't get facebook mobile but you can!! You can't update your status though.

Just don't open those texts and you're fine. And don't send the forwarded text obviously. ha bye.
